BWO’s, hot of the vise.

The 3 BWO Musketeers

One of the 1st mayflies that you actually have a good chance of catching trout close to the surface  in the the spring, are Blue wing olives. They are also one of the last in the fall, and when you need them the most. There are a couple of different phase of the hatch you should have ready to go. I’ve been working on the 3 Musketeers of BWO’s over the past couple weeks. These are my favorite for imitating emergers, duns and cripples. Can’t wait to see the 1st sips of spring. The same patterns tied in charcoal grey will imitate the another early Baetis, the Blue Quill.
