New comers

by Brian Zinger on March 15, 2016

Last week we had a couple new comers to the mix . Zach Grizwold, and a very nice guy, new to the area and straight off the street , Craig who,s last name I’m sure to remember after our next encounter.  We had a good time learning more about Craig  and watching Zack tie up the most beautiful ugly fly, call the Double wide cheech leech. As you can see it is a fly tied for large very aggressive fish and took a long time to put together.

I tied up 12+ VTXcaddis in the time Zack took to tie that monstrosity. I also was able to show Craig how to make the classic caddis head. It’s a pretty easy technique that also helps lock the Elk hair clump in so that it doesn’t spin on the hook.  The plan was to tie Prince nymphs, however Matt couldn’t make it and he was the one who wanted too. So, the plan next week is to tie Princes.  The Prince nymph, tied traditionally with a red head, is very important to have plenty of.  I’ll talk more on that in Monday’s post.
