Woolly buggers are a no brainer

by Brian Zinger on January 11, 2018

The brutal cold temps we have been enduring, have kept me inside and my vise hot with flies going on and off. I’ve been banging out my fav patterns of woolly buggers. You can’t have enough of them, or have them in enough colors.

Woolly buggers are great because they’re so easy to tie. Simple patterns only involve three inexpensive materials. They’re easy to fish. Bounce them of the bottom or swing them with some strips. Buggers are productive on many species of fish because they imitate many of the morsels fish love to eat. The 4 in the picture are my favorite patterns for everyday, keeping it simple fishing. I tie most of my buggers with two tones to make them look more alive.
